Lecture at the S-WIN advanced training course in Weinfelden

The S-WIN course in Weinfelden 2023 discussed the performance of the building envelope for the city and the region. Professor Christoph Renfer from the Bern University of Applied Sciences spoke about the building envelope under terrain - requirements and detailed solutions (Gebäudehülle unter Terrain - Anforderungen und Detaillösungen). The presentation showed that timber basements, if properly designed, are state of the art. Based on several years of measurements of wood moisture content in an apartment building with a timber basement and additional scientific numerical simulations, the durability is assessed on the basis of WTA 6-8-2016, DIN 4108 (2014) and DIN 68800 (2022).
